Before isolation

1. Turn off central AC.
2. Prepare 2 large storage bins, 1 for clothes and 1 for dishes. Set up near the entrance. Fill with some disinfectant. Consider disposable dishware.
3. Prepare small bags for food waste.
4. Prepare 1 small closed lid container for mask disposal. Fill with some disinfectant.
5. Put toilet bowl cleaner in place.
6. Put camera monitor in the room.
7. Put a separator near the entrance. Use the space as PPE removal area.
8. Make sure door can be locked and leave key where kids cannot reach but nearby.
9. Talk to kids about where and what they cannot touch.

During isolation

The new NCP coronavirus may not show sign of infection for many days, how can one know if he/she is infected. By the time they have fever and/or cough and goes to the hospital, the lungs is usually 50 % Fibrosis and it’s too late!

What I am doing for the upcoming COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic

Dear Colleagues, as some of you may recall, when I was a professor of pathology at the University of California San Diego, I was one of the first molecular virologists in the world to work on coronaviruses (the 1970s). I was the first to demonstrate the number of genes the virus contained. Since then, I have kept up with the coronavirus field and its multiple clinical transfers into the human population (e.g., SARS, MERS), from different animal sources.

The current projections for its expansion in the US are only probable, due to continued insufficient worldwide data, but it is most likely to be widespread in the US by mid to late March and April.
